Steve Jobs said this during a commencement speech at Stanford University. Personally I think that he had come to terms with death, as early as 2006 when this speech was given. He went on to state: "Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything — all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure – these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart."
With that being said i think that we all have to start living with our hearts. Live like nothing else matters and live completely without regrets. Here is a man who was facing death and he was able to live from his heart first and foremost. He said it best we all must avoid the trap of thinking we have something to lose. When you live a life in retrospect you miss out on tremendous opportunities and learning experiences. Living your life continuously saying "what if I had.." or "what if we..." , is pointless. You should be living intentionally and if you do not like something that results from what you decided to do, take it as a lesson, learn from it and continue to live from your heart. Free yourself from the binds that we oh so often put on ourselves.
Live each day as if it is your last, not in fear of losing or not being remembered, but live as though the world is your stage and you are there to benefit those around you with your passion. Some day you will die. It's inevitable. But today you are alive. So make it worth it. Realize what is truly important and go forth. Rethink with your heart.
